Hyderabad: In today’s time, studying abroad is the dream of millions of Indian students, especially thousands of youth from cities like Hyderabad who move to America every year. But now this dream can be a little expensive.
Hyderabad The new fee will be applicable from 2026
This new fee has been implemented under the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” passed by the President of America on July 4, 2025. This law will be effective from the year 2026, and it will directly affect those students who are planning to go to America to study under non-immigrant visa categories like F and M.
This fee will be like a security deposit
Visa Integrity Fee is not like a normal visa application fee, but it is a kind of security deposit. The good thing is that if the students leave the country within five days of the visa expiry after completing their studies in the US, then they can get this amount back. However, for this it will be necessary to provide complete documentation and the process is said to be complicated.
Concern increased among Hyderabad students
Hyderabad has always been a big center for students going to the US for studies. Education counselors here say that this new fee will become another financial burden for those middle class families, who are already struggling with the rising price of the dollar and the inflation of the visa process.
A student, on the condition of anonymity, said that he wanted to apply for Masters in the US, but now seeing this additional fee, he is considering options like Canada or Europe.
Another student expressed concern that even though this amount is refundable, its process is so complicated that there is no guarantee of getting the money back.
Hyderabad The fee will increase every year with inflation
Another big concern is that this 250dollar fee is not permanent, but it will be increased every year according to the inflation rate. This means that this fee may be even higher in the coming years, making the dream of studying abroad even more distant.
This new visa integrity fee is a big setback for millions of Indian students who dream of studying in America. While on the one hand, it is a step taken by the US government to tighten immigration rules, on the other hand it has become another economic barrier for middle-class students. Now it will be interesting to see how this rule affects student trends and how many students turn to alternative countries.
